Meeting Information

Title: SignalR

SignalR is a new component in the Microsoft ASP.NET stack, enabling asynchronous signaling from the server to the browser. By providing a channel for server-initiated conversations to the browser, an entirely new class of interactive, real-time applications can be created. In this session, we will go beyond the simple chat server example and demonstrate how to use SignalR to connect your browser-based applications to the events produced by your back-end systems (such as order updates, inventory changes, etc.), and explain how the server is able to execute Javascript methods in the browser.

Meeting Information

Title: Model-View Patterns: Making Sense of MVC, MVP and MVVM...

The separation enforced by 'Model View' patterns can quickly transform your application into a maintainable, modular and rapidly developed package. New features are easily added, new screens are a snap, testing is enhanced and developers and designers can more easily work simultaneously.

Come compare the Model-View-Controller (MVC), Model-View-Presenter (MVP) and Model-View-View-Model (MVVM) patterns. In this session, we'll...

  • Explore the foundation, benefits and drawbacks of each pattern at an architectural level
  • Contrast differences between each pointing out applicable situations where each may apply
  • Walk through a variety of examples on the Microsoft platform, including Microsoft MVC, ASP.Net, Silverlight and Windows Presentation Foundation
You'll walk away with a clear understanding of each pattern, with examples that you can implement in your projects.

So you've listened to the great minds of Agile development, and agree that Test Driven Development sounds awesome ... but your code base isn't even remotely setup for dependency injection, or interface, or any of that. So you gave up. Well fear not my friends, I'm here to help you understand how to do TDD, without starting from a blank slate.
